How to Use D.O.T

D.O.T: The Digital Opportunity Tool Bot is the first token-gating solution for Discord running on the THETA blockchain.

D.O.T promotes more secure communities by:

• Allowing servers to easily restrict access to owners of a certain NFT collection.
• Allowing users to quickly verify their wallet with D.O.T, and then automatically
  gain access to any token-gated channels if the servers they are a part of. If the NFT is in your wallet, you’ll be granted access immediately – no need to re-verify each time!
• With one command, list the wallet addresses of other verified members in your server
  (privacy features coming soon!)

To use D.O.T you’ll first need to have MetaMask installed in your web browser or on your phone, and be part of a server which is using D.O.T. If you’re a server owner and wish to protect your server with D.O.T, then check out the instructions over on the sign-up page!

Usage Instructions

Verify a Wallet

D.O.T allows you to easily connect and verify your THETA wallet using the /join command from a Discord server.

1. First, use the /join command:

   

2. Click the Connect Wallet(s) button, which will open a link in your browser:

   
   Discord will show a security pop-up notifying you that you are navigating to a 3rd-party website. Verify that the domain of the website is dotthebot.io. You should only connect MetaMask to websites you trust.

3. On the webpage that opens, click the Connect With MetaMask button.

   The first time you connect, if you haven’t already added the THETA network to MetaMask, you will be prompted automatically to add it. Always be careful when adding a new network, and ensure that it matches the official instructions before approving. You’ll then need to switch MetaMask to the THETA network:

   

4. Choose the desired accounts to connect. You must select at least one account, but you may select more than one. Once you’ve selected the accounts, MetaMask will ask you to approve the connection for each account:

   

   Note: D.O.T uses the terms “account” and “wallet” synonymously.

5. Back on the dotthebot.io page, you’ll now see a list of the wallets which you allowed in MetaMask. One final step is required to verify your wallet. You must provide a signature which proofs that you control the private key corresponding to your wallet address, without expsoing the private key itself.

   To do so, click each of the wallet addresses which show as “Not Connected”:

   

   MetaMask will show a popup with a “Sign-in Request,” verify the information specifically that the page domain is dotthebot.io, and click “Sign-In”:

   

6. That’s all your wallet has been verified! For convenience, on the next tab D.O.T will show you the NFT collections which are connected to the current Discord server, which ones you own, and which ones you’re missing.
